00 — Overview

01 — Objective

Show the watch clearly in short shots

02 — Design Criteria

Time 1.5–2-second cuts to the music

03 — Deliverables

Watch model · Animatic · 30-second film

Watch the work.

01 — Context

How do you show product detail in a fast-paced edit?

With cuts every 1.5–2 seconds, I needed to decide what each shot should reveal.

I alternated full-watch views with dial close-ups and timed the transitions to the music, giving the product a clear presence within the fast edit.

02 — Approach

01

Modeling A to Z

I compared reference photographs to model the case, bezel, bracelet, hands, and dial. I checked the proportions from the camera angles planned for the film.

02

Editing to the music

03

Developing the look and finishing the film

03 — Design Decisions

Key decisions and why they mattered

01 — Shot planning

Set the shot order and timing to the music

I chose the detail each shot would show, then planned camera angles and modeling work around it.

02 — Previsualization

Check the sequence before final rendering

An animatic let me review and adjust the shot order and timing before rendering the finished scenes.

04 — Outcome

Outcomes and learning

I completed the watch model and 30-second film independently. The project received a nomination in the Student Commercial category at The Motion Awards 2023.

Award

The film was nominated in the Student Commercial category at The Motion Awards'23 by Motionographer.

Learning

Testing the shot order and timing in an animatic helped me decide how much modeling and rendering each shot needed.

I learned to plan the sequence of product details as carefully as the details themselves.
